What is the cost of the program?
The camp fee is due by Friday, December 14, 2019.If we have not received payment by this date, Urban Scholar Academy reserves the right to cancel unpaid applicants with no return of the registration fee.
The cost of the program, per week, is $130.00+ field-trip fee($25). This cost covers all camp features [see flier for description of camp features] by trained & professional staff.
Additional cost include fees for before and after care. Before care (7:00 a.m.--8:00 a.m.) is $15/week.
Do I need to fill out a separate application for each child?
Yes. We need a full and complete application for every child. After you have completed and submitted the first application, the screen will display a message that the application has been successfully sent to our office. At this time, you can begin the additional application.
Are there discounts available?
Yes discounts are available for families who enroll more than one child. The discount program fee is $10.00/week for each additional sibling. Also payment plans and financial assistance (for those who qualify) are available. Please call Alexis Coleman, Program Director, (310) 528-3845 to inquire about financial assistance and payment plans.
What time should I drop-off & pick-up my child(ren)?
Breakfast will be from 8:00 a.m.-8:30 a.m. Enrichment instruction will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. and will end at 11:00 p.m. The camp ends daily at 6:00 p.m. Parents must drop off and pick up their child at the same location.
If you plan to pick up your child(ren) before the end of the day, please visit the program director first to sign your child(ren) out for the day. Parents who are late picking up their child(ren) will be assessed a $1.00 fee for every minute. Payment must be made, in cash, at the time of pick-up.
Will meals/snacks be provided during the program?
Yes. Fresh Start Meals , an after-school meal program, will be partnering with our organization to provide breakfast and lunch Mondays-Thursdays. All meals are USDA approved and adhere to the five food groups. When completing the application, please specify whether your child(ren) has/have any food allergies. Additionally, please complete the "food allergies" form provided by Fresh Start Meals, and submit with your application, so your child's meals can be planned accordingly.
Are there any restrictions within the program?
Yes. Students are prohibited from bringing ipods/ipads, toys, electronic games or trading cards. Please know that our staff will not be responsible for any lost or stolen belongings.
Behavior: Parents will be notified of their child’s behavior in advance and will be encouraged to assist in resolving behavioral problems. Additionally, children who exhibit negative behavior towards themselves or others on a continuous basis will be subject to dismissal from the academy.
What is your refund policy?
An individual must contact Alexis Coleman, Program Director, two weeks prior to the start of the camp if they wish to cancel the camp and obtain a refund, in which a 20% administrative fee will be deducted from the refund given. Any cancellations made after the deadline will result in a 50% refund.
If a parent pays in full, there are no refunds given if the child has attended up until the second week.
Additionally, if a child is removed from the program due to extreme behavior ( theft, fighting, destruction of property), parents/guardians will be entitled to a refund of the prorated amount for all unused sessions and have no recourse other than this refund.
